Instructions

Prepare the dry ingredients:

  • Lightly grease a baking sheet. Preheat the oven to 450ºF.
  • Combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon kosher salt in a bowl.

Cut the butter into the dry ingredients:

  • Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or 2 forks to cut the butter into the flour until a coarse meal forms.

Add the evaporated milk:

  • Add 8 tablespoons of evaporated milk and use a fork to mix it into the flour to form the dough.

Roll out the biscuit dough:

  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and form it into a disc with your hands. Use a floured rolling pin to quickly roll the dough once or twice until it's about 1 inch thick.

Cut out the biscuits:

  • Use a 2¾-inch cookie cutter to cut the dough into rounds. Roll the excess dough into another 1-inch thick disc and continue cutting out biscuits until no more dough remains. This recipe yields 8 biscuits.

Bake the biscuits:

  • Arrange the biscuits to the prepared baking sheet and transfer to the preheated oven for 10 minutes until golden brown on the bottom.

To serve:

  • Serve the biscuits warm with butter and jam and enjoy!
